And life keeps moving along....

Oh so much has happened over the last 2 weeks. Really 2 weeks in baby world and Jenna is almost a new person. The week of the 16th was tough on Jenna. She had her first ear infection. Wednesday daycare called and said she was running a fever. The second time in basically 3 weeks that she was kicked out of daycare with a fever. So Oma came down Thursday to care for her. I decided it was time for us to see the doctor because she still had her fever Thursday morning. That when Dr. Johnson told us about the ear infection. She had to take antibiotics for 4 days but that made everything better. Oma stayed until Friday at lunch. Things worked out great!

Daddy started school on the 23rd! That made last week busy. But we as a family made it. However...Robb and I had a little bout with food poisoning this weekend. On Friday, both of us came down with symptoms about the same time. His mother was taking care of Jenna on Friday. So when we both got home we went straight to bed. My brother (crazy Uncle Sam) was coming for a visit this weekend. So when he got there Susan went home. CU Sam and Jenna spent the evening together while mommy and daddy were sick in our room. I don't know what we would have done if our family hadn't been around on Friday. I don't think either Robb or myself were physically capable of even holding Jenna let alone caring for her. We are now much better and back to eating and being able to be out of bed.

Other big news......Jenna got her first tooth! On Thursday the daycare ladies said Jenna was being fussy. I didn't notice anything different about her when we were home that evening. However Nana felt a little tooth on Friday. So that explains the fussiness on Thursday. Our little girl is growing up so fast!

So that is an update of the last two weeks. I have some video to put up but will do that at a later date.

Hunger Auction weekend

This weekend was Jenna's first hunger auction. This is an annual event held at Antioch to raise money for World Hunger. There are many events that happen before the auction but the actual auction is the big show. Usually all these event raise about $45,000 each year. It is fun to watch the bidding and try to get something if we have enough money.

My grandma always makes baked goods the Friday before the auction. When I was younger I would help her. Since I've been married and have a job I haven't helped with the baking. This year I decided I would take the day off of work and Jenna and I would help grandma with the Tea Rings.

Since I was baking my mom came up the hill to take care of Jenna. My brother was also around to get in some quality uncle time. He is moving to Washington to attend school this coming year. He leaves Sept. 1st so he will miss a lot Jenna growing up.

The auction was fun buy rainy. Jenna got some new toys. Next year maybe she can pick out her own things that she would like to donate and then also buy. After the auction we attended cousin Cheyenne's first birthday party. It is hard to believe it has already been a year since Cheyenne was born. I was barely pregnant with Jenna at the time.

Now we are resting and cleaning the house. This afternoon with have the Lynchburg church pool party. We want to be ready to have fun there!

Our first illness

Last week was a big week for Jenna (and mommy and daddy)! Jenna started daycare on August 2nd. I believe it was harder for me than it was for her. I took the morning off on both Monday and Tuesday. Both of those days she was only at daycare for 5 hours. Wednesday I took her in at her normal time of 7:45am but daddy picked her up a little early since he didn't have an evening band practice. So Wednesday she was there for 8 hours. Thursday was to be her first real full time day (10 hours is what full time will be for her). However at 2pm on Thursday we got a call saying Jenna was running a fever of 100.5 and I had to come pick her up. Fevers get you kicked out immediately.

I went to get our little girl and she was hot. So we went home and took a nap. I woke up after 2 hours. Jenna slept until 7 (which was a 4 hour nap). Her fever peaked at 101.4 that evening. It was good that Robb's mom was already coming down to take care of Jenna on Friday because you have to be fever free for 24 hours before you can go back to daycare. The reason Susan was coming on Friday was...Friday is grandma day! Every Friday one of our mothers will be caring for Jenna. We are really glad our mothers are willing to do this. It is one less day in daycare (which makes me happy) plus it is time with the grandmas!

So back to the fever...Friday she had a fever on and off. Saturday she woke up in the morning and the fever was gone! She has been slightly congested but nothing terrible. Her sleeping habits are a little off and hopefully we can get back on some kind of routine now. Mommy would like the 6 hours straight we were doing before last week.

We have made it through our first illness and our girl was a champ! Lets hope every illness is as easy as this one!

Jenna's dedication

Today was Jenna's baby dedication at the Lynchburg CoB. Baby dedication is the tradition in the Church of the Brethren versus baby baptism in other denominations. The Church of the Brethren believes in adult baptism so this service focuses on the parents promise to provide a loving Christian home for a child. The church also promises to provide a faith community for this child to grow-up in.

Pastor Jack had a lovely service. Jenna wore the Hoover family dedication dress. My grandma Hazel wore this dress in 1920. My mother, aunt Mary Jeanette and Aunt Peggy wore it. My brother and I wore it when we were dedicated. Also two other cousins wore the dress as well. So Jenna is the first of the 4th generation to wear this dress that is 90 years old.

The day was so exciting that Jenna got really tired and took a really long nap this afternoon.
