This past weekend we had a family trip to Staunton. We went up on Saturday and stayed with Robb's friend Josh. We spent time with Robb's parents and tried to see other friends. The other friends visits didn't work out but it was probably for the best. Sunday we went to church at Robb's home church. After church we ate a quick lunch and Jenna and I went to New Market for Amy Tran's baby shower. She and her husband Jeff are having a girl in early March. They will be naming her Ocie Lynn. It was fun to see Amy pregnant and share in this exciting time for her. Jenna was a very good girl and entertained well.
I don't know if it was the new places or all the new people but Jenna decided to be a little shy this weekend. Normally she loves to go to anyone and is overly happy. However this weekend that was not the case. She wanted lots of mama time. She did develop a cold this weekend and still wants mama time so I'm hoping this weekend wasn't the start of I'm scared of strangers.
Jenna is trying more and more things at dinner time. Saturday night we ate at a Staunton staple Mrs. Rowe's. They pie is great! I had a hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes. It was good and I gave Jenna several pieces of the turkey. She ate them with no problems. So I'm starting to think about more meat for her. She still loves her sweet potatoes and peas. I also think she would eat cheerios all day long if I would let her.
It is also amazing to see how well she is walking! It has only been a little over 2 weeks but she is becoming a pro.

10 months
Tuesday was Jenna's 10 month birthday. I was busy having my wisdom teeth removed so I didn't blog about this milestone. It is amazing everyday to see Jenna grow and learn. She has only been walking for a week and a half but she is improving my leaps and bounds. It is so funny to walk down the hall and see her totter around the corner. Two weeks ago she would have been crawling. Now I have no idea what she will be doing.
She is sleeping and eating really well lately. Now that she is 10 months I think I need to branch out and try more things with her. Tonight for dinner she had pasta alfredo and broccoli with cheese. The pasta and broccoli were going well until she stuffed too many broccoli in her mouth and could chew and swallow them. I had fish some out and that made her mad. But all in all I can't complain about how she eats.
I sit here and try to remember what is was like last year to be so pregnant with her at this time. I almost can't remember. What I do remember is being happy and I'm still happy today!

WALKING!
Jenna has started walking! It has been a very exciting time around our house. She has been cruising the furniture for quite some time but she has now started taking independent steps. Last week she took 4 steps and then fell into me. This was in the kitchen while Robb was cooking dinner. Then this weekend I cleared stuff out of the kitchen so she would have more room to play and we got real walking. It is amazing to see how much she has improved just this weekend. Crawling is still her main mode of transport but she is trying walking more and more. It won't be long until that is what she always wants to do!

teeth grinding
Jenna now has 4 teeth. Two on the top and two on the bottom. The two bottom teeth came in towards the end of August. The two top teeth made their appearance around the new year. Jenna looks very cute with teeth and she uses them while eating graham crackers. However this weekend she has started grinding her teeth. When I pick her up and hug her I hear her grinding her teeth together. It gives me the willies. I tell her to stop but not to long I hear is again. Robb looked up baby teeth grinding and said it should just be a phase. She isn't accustomed to having teeth and the sensation is new and the grinding should stop after awhile. It did suggest giving cold teething toys to relieve the pain of teething and give her something new to chew on. That is what I have been doing all evening. I went searching for all her teething toys and they are now cooling in the fridge. I'm hoping this phase will go quickly!

Happy New Year
Happy New Year to everyone! Welcome to 2011. Robb has been telling Jenna all weekend that it is no longer her birth year. I was sad to see 2010 go. It was such a good year! However I feel that 2011 will be just as great! Jenna grows more each day and she is such a charming and loving baby! She loves to hug, smiles a lot and will basically go to anyone. She is a real people person.
This weekend I discovered that her two top front teeth have broken through. I knew she was teething. The drool had started and she was a little off her foods. I finally got my finger in her mouth and felt the new teeth and then I leaned her way back and saw them while she was laughing. So that is 4 teeth for Jenna.
Also this weekend Jenna and I met the newest addition to the Bowman family, baby Wyatt. My cousin Kady and her husband Justin welcomed Wyatt on Dec 27th. He was 7lbs. 11oz. and it was amazing to see him. When Jenna was born she was 7lbs. 12oz. Wyatt seemed so small in my arms but then I needed to remember that Jenna was that size when she was born. Big sister Cheyenne is taking it all in. He is only a week old so the fun is really about to begin.
Other fun thing from the weekend is that Jenna has a new car seat. Since she is now 30inches tall she has outgrown her infant car seat. So we invested in a Britax Marathon 70 car seat. It is black and red and fits perfectly in the Beetle. It is a little more work getting her in and out of the car since I now have to climb in the backseat but she seems much more comfortable. She seems like a big girl now that I'm not bundling her up in the house and carrying the car seat to the car. We have used it for 4 days and love it thus far!
Again Happy New Year! 2011 is going to be great!
